A 14-year-old boy was discovered deceased only a few days following being falsely blamed of taking the ashes of a dead infant during a burglary, an inquest has heard.

Tragic Finding

The young boy's parents discovered his body in his bedroom at his Flintshire residence on November 19th, 2021.

Untrue Allegations Begin

The investigation learned how his mother got a message on 8 November 2021 via online platforms, from a woman inquiring if Kai was her child. The communication added: "Tell him thanks for breaking into my flat."

In a statement read to the proceedings, Lisa Lloyd said the individual had been in the news, asserting her infant's ashes had been stolen in a break-in - a claim which was false.

Law Enforcement Inquiry

An official inquiry from police later determined the supposed break-in victim had "provided false information" and "evidence shows that said property was never stolen in the beginning".

Media reports about the alleged stolen remains generated online comments, and although the teenager was not named in the messages, his mother said people "understood it was him".

The "social media content were extremely upsetting", she stated.

Emotional Wellbeing Effect

She added that her son had been diagnosed with moderate ADHD, and as part of that condition, other individuals' opinions really mattered to him.

"It would have hurt him deeply," she commented, "especially when this was not true".

The teenager was detained at his residence, but no evidence was discovered. He was transported to a police station and later released pending further inquiry.

Authorities said they would be in touch, the inquest learned, but had failed to reached out to the relatives by the moment of his passing.

Withdrawal and Anxiety

His parent said her son "withdrew into himself" after the detention and "would keep asking me whether I had heard anything from the authorities", because his condition meant sometimes "a minute could feel like days".

When she spoke to him about the alleged incident, she said her child informed her he had entered the residence because the woman who lived there had said he could utilize the bathroom whenever he wanted, but refuted removing anything.

Digital Bullying

In a joint statement between her and her spouse, the mother said her son was being bullied online after the accusations.

The inquest heard that one 19-year-old urged Kai to kill himself.

She had no worries on the night before he passed away, describing how she had heard him "laughing and joking".

She portrayed him as a "compassionate, affectionate" boy, and said her "relatives is completely shattered".

He had been "clearly concealing his concerns", she said, noting that he could not bear to have anybody "have negative thoughts of him".

School Reaction

The hearing received testimony from school personnel at the local secondary school.

On 8 November, she "overheard some boys talking that the student had been arrested and that was the first I learned".

"He informed me... he'd done nothing wrong," she continued.

After the conversation, the staff member said she rang the family's parents' telephone and left a message saying she had communicated to Kai about the accusations.

The proceedings heard his family said they never receive that communication.

Official Conclusion

Senior investigator told the inquest he would await documents regarding what enhancements had been made to dealing with individuals with ADHD, before determining whether he should make a avoidance of future fatalities report.

Providing a descriptive conclusion, he stated: "Approximately 8 November 2021, unsupported accusations were made against the teenager, a young individual.

"Likely falsehoods were subsequently embellished and exaggerated through the platform of social media.

"During 11 November, he was interviewed by the authorities and following his questioning he was freed whilst investigations continued."

The official determined: "There is no proof that the acts or failures of any agency caused or added to his death and although it was the outcome of a self-inflicted act it is impossible to determine his purpose."
