Diving into an Unique Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Piece of Feces with the Goal to Reach the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and gamers have found a variety of interesting indie games. But, one catches the eye for its quirky concept. Named Unko Technica, this classic-feel jumping adventure includes a character that is truly a piece of poop striving to navigate to a toilet. For those curious, "Unko" means "poop."

Player controls is simple: press a single jump button. Throughout numerous challenges, you'll face mini-bosses and access a store to purchase skins for your dung hero.

Execute your movements carefully, since one error means restarting the level. Bounce off floating orbs to hurl the poop upward, traverse crumbling platforms, and activate triggers to reveal new areas. Gather coins to purchase more difficult levels where things gets crazy.

In terms of design, the demo shows off vibrant stages and an amazing music score. The simple art with shifting abstract forms may remind gamers of old favorites like Earthbound.

While it's difficult to think of previous releases where you are a dung character, gaming often included fecal matter. For instance, in Death Stranding, you can make explosives from protagonist droppings. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use feces as fertilizer. Unsurprisingly, fecal references shows up extensively in the adventure The Stick of Truth.

Despite its goofy idea, Unko Technica has already earned significant recognition, like taking top honors at Bandai Namco's indie contest in 2023. This trial version is accessible at present on Steam, with the full game planned to debut on PC in the fall.
